Barbara was an Artist-in-Residence for Brevard Cultural Alliance and taught as a visiting artist to the Brevard County School System from the Very Special Arts of Florida. She is past president of the Cape Canaveral Branch of the National League of America Pen Women and works diligently here and in several foundations for the benefit of other artists and for public enjoyment of art. Barbara lives and works on the Florida Space Coast with her sculptor husband, Baxter Rains.

Barbara Osmundsen attended Vanderbilt University, received her B. S. degree from the University of Tennessee, and did postgraduate work at the University of Tennessee and the Virginia Museum of Fine Art. Along with the experience in bronze casting, Barbara has enjoyed the opportunity for her private studies with individual artists . A teacher and fashion designer during her early career, she turned to sculpture in the mid 80s and quickly won national and international acclaim.
